Getting Better Together

Even though we tend to imply that each one of us is special in our own way, the disparity between our levels has been more than evident throughout the history. This disparity has caused a highly uneven distribution of opportunities, thus making sure that the said gap only grows bigger with time. Now, as you can guess, such reality makes for a scenario where the advantaged group is exploiting the others, but that’s not even the worst part. The worst part is that they are doing it in a whole host of ways, which leaves nothing to chew upon for the underprivileged. While the inequality we are talking about here plagued the world for centuries, it was all expected to change upon the arrival of technology. After all, this was a creation big enough to trigger some shift in the power dynamics, and to some extent, it did achieve that objective. Nevertheless, our flawed societal structure soon seeped into technology as well. The medium and lower class was actively alienated from the new tech developments on the back of astronomical prices. It felt like we were back to square one, but that feeling didn’t stay for long. Eventually, the world realized how important inclusivity is for a growth-oriented environment. This moment of epiphany has been since supplemented by enormous efforts to elevate the deprived. The latest effort of such nature, however, arrived in the logistics industry, and it was put on the table by Google.

Google Cloud has officially announced the launch of Supply Chain Twin, which is designed to significantly scale up your logistical abilities. It does so by allowing you to use data for constructing a virtual representation of your supply chain, therefore bolstering your view of important parts like suppliers, inventories, transportation, and other relevant factors. In order to enhance the experience of its new solution, Google has also unveiled Supply Chain Pulse. The Pulse will accentuate Twin offerings by providing real-time dashboards, advanced analytics, and alerts on any potential disruptions etc.

Google’s Twin is one for medium and small-scale businesses because of its cost-effective approach. The idea of being able to gather data from different sources while spending drastically less time on integration has been bit of a pipe dream for players with limited financial resources, but Google’s Twin is out to change that forever.

“The Supply Chain Twin enables customers to gain deeper insights into their operations, helping them optimize supply chain functions—from sourcing and planning, to distribution and logistics,” said Hans Thalbauer, Managing Director of Supply Chain & Logistics Solutions, Google Cloud.

As of now, the solution is in the preview phase and the early results are already showing great promise. In terms of numbers, some customers reported a whopping 95% reduction in analytics processing time. To give you a deeper sense of this drop, the required timeframe for many users got all the way from 2.5 hours to just 8 minutes.
