Giving Your Driving Experience a Different Groove

When it comes to valuable traits, human beings have always had a ton of them in their arsenal, and yet we have never possessed anything more valuable than our tendency to grow on a consistent basis. This tendency, in particular, has allowed us to hit upon some huge milestones, with technology proving to be a unique member of the stated group. The reason why technology’s credentials are so anomalous is largely down to its unprecedented skill-set, which introduced us to a reality that we couldn’t have imagined otherwise. However, if we look beyond the surface, it becomes clear that the whole runner was also predicated upon the way we applied those skills across a real-world setting. The latter component was, in fact, what gave the creation a spectrum-wide presence, and consequentially, kickstarted a tech revolution. This revolution, as we discovered later, will go on to scale up the human experience from every conceivable direction, but even after achieving something so monumental, technology will somehow continue to produce all the right goods under one capacity or the other. The same has only turned more and more evident over the recent past, and new development around the automotive space should do a lot to keep that trend alive and kicking.

Mercedes-Benz has officially announced the decision to bring Apple Music’s spatial audio technology to some of its vehicles. According to certain reports, the feature will be available in select EQS and EQE sedans and SUVs, while also getting a crack at a few Mayback and S-Class vehicles. Notably enough, in order to use it, you’ll need to own a vehicle with the MBUX interface and optional 31-speaker Burmester 3D or 4D sound systems, an option that starts at $4,550 on top of the price of the vehicle. Talk about the technology in question, Apple Music’s Dolby Atmos-powered spatial audio is designed to enhance your music listening experience, and it does so by creating an optimal distribution of sounds across different audio channels. This, of course, then leads to the creation of a virtual 3D audio space from your speakers, earbuds, or headphones.

“Sound quality is incredibly important to Apple Music which is why we are so excited to be working with Mercedes to make Spatial Audio on Apple Music available natively in the car for the first time,” said Oliver Schusser, vice president of Apple Music and Beats. “Together with Mercedes, we now have even more opportunities to bring wholly immersive music to our subscribers all over the world.”

An under-the-radar benefit of getting Apple Music onboard is how it’s going to help Mercedes-Benz drivers in regards to finding songs that support the Dolby Atmos format, but what if, let’s say; you are not an Apple Music subscriber? Well, just to solve that very conundrum, the automaker is also partnering with Universal Music Group (UMG), as it looks to take your drives to a whole another level.
