Playing the GenAI Way to Instill More Productivity into Your Security Operation

Palo Alto Networks has officially announced the launch of three new copilots that combine the power of generative AI (GenAI) with a proprietary collection of high-precision cybersecurity technologies to help users secure their systems in a more effective manner. According to certain reports, the three copilots in question happen to be Strata™ Copilot, Prisma® Cloud Copilot and Cortex® Copilot, each one powered by Palo Alto’s proposition Precision AI approach to eliminate complexity drastically improve productivity for security teams. In case you weren’t aware, the stated Precision AI approach is best known for packing together GenAI, machine learning (ML), and deep learning (DL) capabilities to create more effective assistants, assistants who can leverage comprehensive data and proven playbooks to offer guided automation and actionable insights. Coming back to the brand-new copilots, they all use the power and simplicity of natural language to let security analysts quickly and easily find, understand, and stop threats before they have a chance of posing any big trouble. More on the given development would take us into integrations penciled in for each copilot. To give you can example, Strata Copilot will work alongside the Strata Network Security platform, including both SASE and NGFW deployments. Furthermore, you can also access the same through Strata Cloud Manager. Next up, we have Prisma Cloud Copilot. This one can be expected to support the entire Prisma Cloud, Code to Cloud™ platform. By doing so, it should help cybersecurity professionals in risk prioritization, remediation, threat detection, and reporting.

“When GenAI went mainstream, we had a vision that it could be an incredible tool for autonomous security — we saw beyond the capability of simply providing answers, it could drive actions. To fulfill its promise, more innovation was needed,” said Lee Klarich, chief product officer at Palo Alto Networks. “By combining GenAI with other key technologies, we’ve improved precision and enabled actionability. This is the first step toward realizing our vision, brought to life via our Precision AI-powered copilots, radically improving security team productivity and security outcomes.”

Moving on to Cortex Copilot, it is set to be delivered through the Cortex XSIAM® platform, thus enabling a more efficient and effective SOC. Although slightly different in their function, every single copilot is made to strengthen the prospects of autonomous cybersecurity and enhance it to a point where such assistants can, for instance, answer product knowledge questions in the context of your environment. Once at that stage, these copilots will also have the means to explore and visualize app, user, and threat activity, while simultaneously addressing targeted questions about your environment. Then, there is also a promise of guided configuration so to help it reach an optimal stage. Furthermore, there would be one search functionality available to look for details around an IoC (e.g., IP address, FQDN, URL, domain, hash, etc.). Hold on, there is more, considering we still haven’t discussed how users will gain here the ability to assess the impact and coverage of a threat or CVE. They will also enjoy the means to initiate complex remediation actions through simple natural language requests. Joining the same would be a skill in reference to opening support cases, with issue details automatically collected and proactively submitted. Finally, users can even expect dedicated assistance when it comes to quick product navigation.

“Generative AI promises to help security teams be more effective in their job through natural language interfaces,” said Scott Moser, SVP and CISO at Sabre. “The ability for more team members to query firewalls and all of the security tools using a natural language interface is extremely valuable in ensuring a very quick response to security threats, as well as getting better answers to the questions they ask.”
