Realizing one Cryptography Advancement that Caters to the Present and to the Future

evolutionQ, a leading quantum-safe cybersecurity company, has officially announced the launch of a new cryptographic protocol called MultimodalKES, which is designed to facilitate the establishment of end-to-end (E2E) encryption keys for long-term secure, quantum-safe communications. According to certain reports, MultimodalKES works by combining symmetric cryptography, post-quantum cryptography (PQC), and current asymmetric key cryptography. This combination, once prepared, brings to you an end result which can hold its own against both classical and quantum computing attacks. More on the same will reveal how MultimodalKES is deployable at scale in many enterprise applications via existing protocols (including TLS, IPSec, and MACSec), and infrastructures such as routers or security appliances. The latter aspect markedly covers cloud and those customer-owned hardware security modules (HSMs). Anyway, talk about the whole value proposition on a slightly deeper level; we begin from the promise of long-term security. Here, the core idea is to secure the long-term value of an organization’s critical data, sensitive personal information, trade secrets, and intellectual property. Next up, we must get into new cryptographic protocol’s enhanced QKD integration. With enhanced, it refers to increasing QKD network range and extending its reliability, while simultaneously mitigating current challenges and expanding operational capabilities.

“Today’s public-key cryptography is vulnerable to a multitude of classical, AI, quantum, and other unknown threats. To better protect themselves, government agencies and organizations in critical industries are actively seeking resilient, defense-in-depth approaches that address both current and future attacks,” said Dr. Michele Mosca, CEO and Co-Founder at evolutionQ. “MultimodalKES delivers strong computational security even if all asymmetric cryptography methods are broken, and also protects against other serious attacks.”

Moving on, the technology in play also brings to the fore a future-proof angle, where MultimodalKES protects your investment and ensures that security measures remain effective and resilient as technologies and threats continue to evolve. Hold on, we still have a few bits left to unpack, considering we still haven’t acknowledged the product’s seamless integration capabilities, capabilities that touch on how MultimodalKES works alongside existing IT infrastructure, including existing QKD deployments, By doing so, it minimizes disruption, and at the same time, maximizes security. Not just that, the stated protocol also enables secure communications with long-lived field devices, thus more effectively navigating device-specific vulnerabilities attached to IoT smart meters, last-mile equipment, automobiles, and more. Joining the same is an ability to optimize performance. This stems from MultimodalKES finding a sense of balance between security and efficiency so to ensure minimal impact on system performance. Such a system can also come in handy when the agenda is to maintain robust protection against classical and quantum threats.

Finally, our last piece of highlight is concerned with the protocol’s built-in compliance and standards. Both these elements are to unsurprisingly play a crucial role in convincing the user that their security measures meet regulatory expectations and best practices.

“In the face of ever-evolving cyber threats, governments and critical industries need the unique, multi-layered protection that MultimodalKES provides,” said Daniel Minder, Product Manager at evolutionQ. “By investing in our quantum-safe key establishment solution, organizations aren’t just safeguarding their data today, they’re also strengthening their cybersecurity posture and protecting their investments in the future.”
