A Modern Take on Charity

The human arsenal, as we know, is loaded beyond all limits, and yet our tendency to get better on a consistent basis is really the most valuable thing you are likely to find here. This tendency, in particular, has already allowed us to hit upon some huge milestones, with technology appearing as a unique member of the stated group. The reason why technology, since arriving on the scene, has appeared so anomalous is down to its never-seen-before skill-set, which ushered us towards a reality that we could have never imagined otherwise. Nevertheless, before we get to the new realities, we must acknowledge the influence of how we applied those skills in a real-world setting. The latter component was, in fact, what gave the creation a spectrum-wide presence, and consequentially, kickstarted a tech revolution. Talk about the famous tech revolution, it went on to enhance our lives from every conceivable direction, but even after achieving such a monumental feat, it will somehow keep on producing all the right goods. The same has turned more and more evident on the back of our recent progression, and Venmo’s latest move should only help the stated trend moving forward.

Paypal-owned Venmo is officially launching a new feature called Charity Profiles, which as the name suggests, is designed to allow charities to raise funds and receive donations directly within its app. This bid to digitize charity could be a significant step for all the non-profit organizations that are trying to expand their reach. As for how these organizations can avail the stated benefit, they need to start by heading to Venmo Charity Profile setup page and log into a confirmed charity PayPal account. Next up, you’ll be asked to create a new Venmo account to link to a charity profile. As only the charities that have received confirmed charity status from PayPal are eligible, Venmo is able to use the data collected from there to build an associated Venmo profile. Once that step is duly completed, the charity is free to publish and their profiles with relevant communities.

“As Venmo has continued to grow and evolve over the years, we’ve seen the Venmo community come together in unique ways to send payments of goodwill and share random acts of kindness with people in their community and beyond,” said Denise Leonhard, the vice president and general manager of Venmo, in a statement. “We have been continually inspired by how Venmo customers help one another, and support causes close to their hearts. Today, we’re introducing the ability to create charity profiles on Venmo, so that charities can now raise funds and receive donations directly from Venmo’s app.”

The new Charity Profiles’ feature, interestingly enough, comes just a few weeks after PayPal expanded its own efforts in the charitable donations business. The fintech behemoth did so by launching a product called Grant Payments, which allows Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) sponsors, community foundations and other grantmakers to move their donations electronically through PayPal’s platform.

To support the new option, Venmo will also launch a whole new charity hub in the coming months as a way of giving customers a new way to discover causes that they care about.
