Grocery-Buying Just Got Modernized

Human beings have a known ability to scale up all their undertakings in whichever shape and form we desire. This allows us to keep our growth prospects flexible at any given time, therefore keeping us eligible for a range of possibilities. Now, when you have such a dynamic acting as a dominant force, pursuing growth becomes more of a creative process than anything else, and the benefits to be had from that are huge. To understand it better, you only have to look at a creation like technology. If the elements in play weren’t so accommodating, we would have never been able to envision a creation, which offered at least some value to each and every area within our spectrum. While the setup might take up the look of an additive in various contexts, we must also acknowledge how it literally built certain things from scratch, and one fitting example we can take here talks to the global logistics industry. Logistics used to be an economically unfeasible and performance-wise dull sector, but its fortunes changed entirely on the back of technology. Despite making so many strides in the recent past, the sector is still moving ahead with the similar zeal, and this progressive approach was recently rewarded by a robotic delivery startup called Coco.

Coco, along with Segway Robotics’ Mobility Platform, has successfully developed a remotely operated delivery vehicle that will be essentially used for grocery deliveries. Named as Coco 1, the vehicle boasts a better drivetrain than anything Coco has ever created before. Furthermore, it comes carrying a sizeable battery capacity, enabling the vehicle to travel as far as three miles from a store. The Coco 1’s assortment of technical features matches up what other autonomous grocery delivery providers are currently offering, except that wasn’t even the main concern. When a discussion is based on autonomous vehicles, most people are interested in learning about the safety measures in place. Coco 1 takes care of things on the safety frontier through its audio warning capabilities, which help in establishing a communication channel between the driver and pedestrians.

The driver remotely operating Coco 1 will have all relevant details regarding the vehicle’s location, surroundings, and potential obstacles provided to them by a host of cameras and sensors embedded into the system

“Amidst the ongoing labor shortage and growing demand for delivery robots, we believe that Coco is embarking on an exciting journey in a blue-ocean market,” Tony Ho, Segway’s vice president of global business development.

Once it hits the road, Coco 1 is expected to go up against many companies, including Tortoise, Choice Market, Safeway, Cleveron, and Nuro, that are making similar forays.
