The Way Telemedicine is Transforming with Technology

The telemedicine space is at a tipping point with the changing trends while expanding beyond interactions between physicians and patients. The Covid-19 pandemic situation have also spurred this transformation as to avoid direct interactions which could reduce the virus spread. Today’s highly advanced telemedicine solutions allow health care professionals to diagnose as well as treat patients at a distance using telecommunications technology. As a result, more convenient care, combined with the unavailability of many overburdened medical professionals are transforming the telemedicine sector as an increasingly important part. Though telehealth has accelerated in popularity, it is far from reaching its zenith. Tremendous innovation is needed to help it reach its potential.

EMRs
During in-person visits, physicians check in with staff members and orient themselves to the patient. As physicians conduct virtual care, that dynamic is completely different than how it was eralier. They need to be able to quickly reference the EMR on demand and can easily access necessary screens to enhance workflow and reduce time needed to navigate through the EMR platform. As patients begin returning for in-person visits, new workflow issues exist with the current need for social distancing and the inability to keep multiple patients in the waiting room.

Coupled with longer patient turnover rates due to the extra time it takes to sanitize rooms between visits, physicians may design their workflow to alternate between virtual and in-person visits throughout the day. Bulk amounts of data is required to help physicians determine the right trend.

Teleoncology
While in parallel, treatment systems like the teleoncology field has quickly expanded in the last few years. This provides more accessible and convenient care to patients with cancer. While some teleoncology solutions offer tools to forward images for diagnosis, others are live video platforms to allow patient consults with the oncologist. Some of the more advanced TeleOncology solutions provides remote access to skilled oncologists while allowing the hospitals to meet patients’ needs instead of transferring them to another location. In addition, it provides a variety of critical services such as hematology and oncology consultations, genetic counseling, palliative care assistance and cancer treatment reviews.

Telepsychiatry
Telepsychiatry is another growing area of telemedicine. It allows qualified psychiatrists to provide treatment to patients remotely while expanding access to behavioral health services. Telepsychiatry is becoming one of the most incredibly popular sectors.Because of the nation-wide shortage of available psychiatrists, and because psychiatry often does not require the same physical exams of the medical field, its adoption rate in incredible today. A variety of leading businesses are providing telemedicine solutions to eradicate mental healthcare shortages across the USA. As a result, this enables mental health professionals to virtually meet with patients at a variety of institutions.Clients can search for providers on multiple criteria, schedule appointments, and get private, online care. Members of accepted telemedicine partner health plans may use their insurance to cover the cost of care as well.

Teledermatology
These are also part of the telemedicine solutions that are usually store-and-forward technologies allowing a general healthcare provider to send a patient photo of a rash, or another skin anomaly, for remote diagnosis. Emerging cost effective funding a cost-effective, skin imaging system that allows non-dermatologists to take clinical-quality 3D skin images remotely. With the emergence of telemedicine solutions, dermatologists can review images taken at medical kiosks and other referral sites to efficiently monitor high volumes of patients’ lesions while reserving in-office appointment times for those patients.
