A Unique Effort to Fill the Gaping Cybersecurity Holes

One of the best things about a human life is its openness to becoming a wee better under each and every situation. This dynamic, in particular, has already allowed us to achieve some huge milestones, with technology proving to be a major member of the stated group. Technology has always enjoyed a significant place in our lives due to its unprecedented skill-set, which introduced us to all those possibilities that we could have never imagined otherwise. Nevertheless, if you care to look a little deeper, it quickly becomes clear how the whole runner is also very much predicated upon the way we use the stated skills. The latter component has, in fact, done a lot to give the creation a spectrum-wide presence, and consequentially, start a tech revolution. This revolution, in turn, will go on to enhance our living experience from every conceivable direction, but even after achieving such a monumental feat, it will somehow keep on producing all the right goods. The same has turned more and more apparent on the back of recent human progression, and Cloudflare’s latest launch can only propel to higher altitudes.

Cloudflare has officially announced a new cybersecurity initiative by launching Zero Trust SIM and Zero Trust for Mobile Operators, two products that are designed to make life easier for  smartphone users, the companies securing corporate phones, and the carriers selling data services. Talk about the Zero Trust SIM, it is designed to secure all data packets leaving a smartphone. According to certain reports, the stated product will be deployable via existing mobile device management platforms to both iOS and Android device users. Furthermore, to cut back on the raging instances of SIM-swapping attacks, Cloudflare has made sure that it’ll be locked to a specific device. When detailing Zero Trust SIM’s capabilities, Cloudflare CTO, John Graham-Cumming pointed out something that their product can do better than any VPN, and the said aspect is of cell-level protection.

“Zero Trust SIM provides defense in depth. A VPN layer is one of those components, but doesn’t remove the need to still deploy cellular connectivity across all of your mobile devices today, and traditional ‘AnyConnect-style’ VPNs do nothing to stop attackers moving laterally once they’re inside the VPN,” he said.

As for the price, it remains undisclosed, but what we do know is that the SIM will be a part of Cloudflare’s Zero Trust platform from a billing perspective. Moving on to the Zero Trust for Mobile Operators, this carrier partner program is expected to help service providers in terms of upgrading security, and it will do so by giving them the infrastructure to offer subscriptions to mobile security tools from Cloudflare’s Zero Trust platform.

Whether these products are able to achieve something significant remains unknown, but with global security market expected to clock a valuation of $22.1 billion by 2030, the move makes a lot of sense on Cloudflare’s part.
