Looking through the Lens of Innovation

The topic of technology spells a gazillion conversations every day. Some happen to acknowledge what positive things it has done, while some happen to criticize the kind of hold it has managed to gain on our life. A few of these conversations also happen to just debate over the aforementioned points. However, whenever we talk about technology, we put ourselves at risk of sounding misleading. Technology, by itself, doesn’t have any attributes, be it positive or negative. Instead, it’s the tech by-products that form the basis of our opinion. You might argue that this is a bit too technical of a take, but that’s the truth. We gauge technology’s stature by how well or bad different types of tech products do and that has been the case since always. It’s convenient for us to say that technology has changed our lives, but it’s these products that are pulling the strings. So, all in all, we can safely assert that we recognize the very concept of technology through the mediums we use on routinely basis. One medium that is hugely influential in our perception of technology is camera. The evolution of cameras and the importance of photography in general has grown so much that today we have a multi-million dollar photography industry. With people turning more tech savvy than ever before, one thing they are apparently giving a lot of importance to is photography, and living in a world of social media justifies that well. This growing significance of photography has been calling out for more innovation. After a long wait, Facebook has responded.

Facebook has finally released its Ray-Ban stories smart glasses, which are created in collaboration with Luxottica. These glasses basically allow the user to click pictures and record videos with either voice commands or just by pressing a button located on the right temple of the glasses. Furthermore, this new creation also comes with small speakers embedded into it that switches the glasses into headphones. You can pair these glasses-turned-headphones with your smartphone through Bluetooth and listen to music or podcasts in the most hassle-free manner. If that doesn’t satiates your appetite, then you would love to know that these Ray-Ban stories smart glasses even have a microphone, thus talking on calls just got easier.

The new launch gives us a fair idea of Facebook’s vision to develop next-generation hardware. Even though it’s not the first tech giant to dabble with the concept of smart glasses, Facebook’s entry into the picture does reaffirm the future of this technology in long-run. Available at a base price of $299, Facebook’s Ray-Ban stories smart glasses come with a lot of potential, and it will be interesting to see what kind of standing they get bestowed with amongst the modern generation.
