Breaking the Deadlock

There are many reasons that had to come in play before human beings could take over the world.  Now, our basic intelligence was certainly up there as probably the biggest factor, but it shouldn’t take away the shine from, let’s say, our willingness to keep striving for a better alternative. Always staying on the lookout for an added piece of value doesn’t always mean that we are dissatisfied by the current step. Instead, it’s much more about the world’s natural instinct of moving towards an improved life. To bolster our chance at achieving it, we have made sure that all the efforts from our end emerge in a rather diversified form. This, as you would guess, gives us many different bites of the cake, thus setting the stage for a proper feast, and the said feast did come when we stumbled upon technology. Suddenly, apart from being able to enjoy unprecedented convenience and efficiency, we were also well-equipped in terms of taking that next step. Using the opportunity at its disposal, the world did begin pursuing extensive progress in some unique ways, but amid all this, we forget to utilize technology for scaling up certain subtle fronts. Apple is currently out to make up for that very error, and the company finally has the regulatory support as well.

As per some reports, Transport Security Administration (TSA) has decided to support Apple Wallet IDs at airport checkpoints, with the change coming into effect from February 2022. Initially, these digital IDs will only be accepted in two airports. However, if the experiment ends up working out well, we can expect it to expand across airports in two more states. TSA’s decision marks the first time it has agreed to support a digital ID. Assuming a successful result here, we can very well see major alternations to how the world functions on a day-to-day basis. You will no longer be required to carry the physical copy of your conventional IDs like drivers’ license and more, as a digital version is going to get you through anywhere just fine.

“Instead of TSA staff examining a physical ID card, manually comparing a traveler’s ID photo to their face, and verifying flight information, a machine will automate the process. Travelers will simply tap an NFC reader or use a QR scanner to initiate the data exchange. A TSA staff member will be present to oversee and validate the verification process,” according to an event recap from Secure Technology Alliance.

Apple revealed its plans to introduce digital wallets in June 2021. However, it hasn’t been a smooth ride since then. The company’s controversial contracts with the states and a host of other factors have made a big push to place the whole project in jeopardy, but the TSA’s decision might end up being the breakthrough it needed.
