A Matter of Life and Pocket

Even though human life is expansive in every imaginable sense, it does have certain dominating patterns. For instance, no matter how things are shaping up from a holistic angle, we always find ourselves trying to solve one question or the other. Now, when you do so for a long time, you are pretty much guaranteed to run out of ideas after a point, so to avoid getting stuck in here, we end up needing some external help. This help has arrived in various different forms over the years, but despite the huge volume, the world is still yet to see anything as useful as technology. Technology gets to monopolize such discussions, because alongside being a mere guide, the creation also bestowed our lives with an outright fresh dimension. By doing the latter, in particular, it radically altered the human trajectory, and the ripple effects of the same are now evident across the board. Nevertheless, it’s not to say that technology didn’t bring its own problems into the picture. In fact, looking at Biden Administration’s latest decision, an iteration of those problems might go on display sooner rather than later.

As US continues to grapple with inflated fuel prices, the White House has now officially lifted the embargo placed on E15 fuel, which was previously banned during the summertime. Deemed as more harmful than the usual gasoline, E15 was banned after it showed a severe tendency to cause smog during the summer months. This smog-triggering tendency has been a result of the fuel’s exceedingly-high 15% ethanol content, but that’s not the only reason why E15 is bad for the environment. You see, considering it’s mostly made out of corn, the necessary farming procedures go on to create even more gas emissions, and therefore burden the air quality by a significant margin. Nevertheless, the fuel’s plant origins are also a big reason why it’s being brought back into the fold, as they instantly make E15 a much cheaper alternative to foreign oil supplies. If we are talking numbers, then the consumers, who are going with E15, can expect to save around 10 cents per every gallon.

“The Administration’s strategy to spur the development of homegrown biofuels is critical to expanding Americans’ options for affordable fuel in the short-term and to building real energy independence in the long-term by reducing our reliance on fossil fuels,” the White House fact sheet stated.

In regards to the environmental impact, the fact sheet also mentioned how EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) “will work with states across the country to ensure there are no significant air quality impacts through the summer driving season,”
