The Modern Way of Hailing a Ride

Our lives are practically loaded with different dynamics. These dynamics, while hugely varying in their nature and significance, are motivated by the shared purpose of bolstering the quality of our lives. What’s more interesting is that, with time, these drivers of improvement change drastically. As we grow, they are replaced by the newer ones, which are more in line with the shape of your surroundings at that time. Once we have a new set of these said dynamics, they start the process of guiding you towards the next stage of your growth. It’s a continuous cycle, ensuring that we never go stagnant on a personal level. The fact that these constituents of our progress rely heavily on external factors is intriguing, and it’s intriguing particularly because of the times we live in. A tech-centric environment around us clearly means that our lives today go on as per the technological principles. With a greater medium at our disposal, our needs and priorities have switched up to accommodate its skills in the most effective manner. For instance, people of today put their stock in elements like convenience and value, two things technology pretty much specializes in delivering. However, there is something else too that has become increasingly important for us as of late, and that is innovation. We no longer want to revisit what we have explored before. Instead, the path that lies ahead is now the only thing on our agenda. This is the case largely because we know what we are capable of achieving. We know that nothing is too good for us. A testament of this fact is evident in logistics industry’s latest chapter.

Motional, an autonomous vehicle company jointly-created by Hyundai and Aptiv, is bringing the next big thing for transportation and logistics’ sphere in the form of a robotaxi. The development of this robotaxi has been underway for a while now, and the great progress could be easily observed in the images recently shared by the company. Even though the vehicle is not due to be out until 2023, Motional has already struck a deal with Lyft, giving the popular ride-hailing app exclusive rights to launch their transformative product.

Along with the images, Motional also had other exciting details to reveal about the project. According to those details, the robotaxi will have around 30 sensors that include things like cameras, radar, and lidar. These sensors will ensure a 360-degree field of vision for the vehicle, furnishing it with the ability to locate objects even from a long distance. Furthermore, software and hardware deemed necessary for the level 4 autonomous driving will also be installed in the car, ruling out the need of a driver behind the wheel. As far as vehicle’s model is concerned, Motional revealed earlier this year that Hyundai Ioniq 5 is the one they have zeroed upon, at least for the initial phase.
