A Win-Win Deal

After years of continuous innovation, it can finally be said that technology has reshaped a whole era. The progress observed across different channels goes above and beyond to justify its stature as a generational tool. Even though its integrity has been questioned time and again, technology has managed to pull itself through every rocky patch, and it has done so in quite a grand fashion. Every time technology has been dealt with some setback, it has returned with something even better to put on the table. This resilience and commitment to growth is why the idea of tech has become personal for us, almost as if it adds a dimension to our very being. While its capability to deliver on the big stage has rarely been doubted, one area where technology was extensively undermined was the area of our routinely life.

Experts had struggled to come up with feasible ways through which technology can prove its utility in our day-to-day life, but that was, of course, before it started shepherding new products into the light. One such product was the ecommerce. The introduction of ecommerce was nothing short of a defining moment for today’s world. A chance to satisfy our daily needs with just a few clicks was something that presented us with a life that didn’t look like anything we have ever seen before. Driven by the likes of Amazon, the age of ecommerce has won over the average customer, but a new partnership might just be calling out for even better times in the industry.

As per the announcement made last week, Shopify has entered into a collaborative deal with social media giant, Tik Tok. The deal will allow the sellers on Shopify to create storefronts on the popular media platform. The move gives Shopify much needed visibility as they try to gain market share from bigger companies. For Tik Tok, it’s a big breakthrough as well. The platform has been looking to foray into ecommerce for a while now with a view to commercialize the promotional activity happening on its platform. One way through which the new arrangement separates itself from the previous one would be the introduction of an option to create a dedicated tab in your Tik Tok profile for the products you are promoting.

The partnership has been made official only recently, but already the likes Kylie Jenner have created storefronts on the platform as a part of the pilot program. The full roll-out is expected by fall.
