Entrusting Cloud to Build Us a Leaner and More Productive Manufacturing Model

Oracle has officially announced the launch of new supply chain execution capabilities for Oracle Fusion Cloud Supply Chain & Manufacturing (SCM). Largely concerned with two sub-solutions in Oracle Fusion Cloud Manufacturing and Oracle Fusion Cloud Maintenance, these new capabilities leverage artificial intelligence to help customers improve factory output by increasing productivity, enhancing quality, reducing unplanned downtime, and improving visibility across operations. Talk about the updates introduced across Oracle Fusion Cloud Manufacturing, they join the solution’s existing knowhow of combining data from connected equipment, the workforce, and supply chain processes to deliver real-time recommendations, autonomously adjust production, and execute on high-value manufacturing decisions. A deeper look into the updates itself would reveal a dedicated Operator Workbench, which can provide you a single user interface to capture and access insights right as they complete day-to-day operations. The stated operations can include start/stop, time tracking, operations related to materials and tools required, and production exception reporting. Complimenting the same is a pair containing straightforward environment and a automated data capture functionality, both the elements in place to let machine operators have clear visibility into their daily tasks. On top of that visibility, they also enable assembly workers to gain more autonomy for executing orders, and quickly tracking and recording production.

Alongside the Operator Workbench, the Oracle Fusion Cloud Manufacturing solution will get digital work instructions that help customers simplify complex assembly operations, such as manual and automated assemblies. Not just that, these instructions can also come in handy when trying to enforce procedures to improve quality and consistency. Of course, given the simplicity in play, they also stand a better chance of reaching operators and assembly workers in a more effective way, thus taking productivity levels up a notch.

“As organizations look to insulate their operations from ongoing disruptions, many leaders are turning to technology to increase output, improve quality, and build resiliency,” said Chris Leone, executive vice president of applications development at Oracle. “With Oracle Cloud SCM, organizations can connect and automate end-to-end supply chain processes and move toward a lights out manufacturing model.”

Next up, we have the updates delivered in and around the Oracle Fusion Cloud Maintenance solution. Here, you basically combine maintenance data with real-time asset information, workforce, and supply chain data to ensure continuous monitoring and predictive maintenance. Making this whole mechanism better is a new Maintenance Technician Workbench, which helps you quickly and easily access relevant work based on assignment or skill. Furthermore, it generates for you comprehensive insights into service history, and at the same time, supports seamless collaboration with other workers. Bearing a single mobile user interface for all technician work execution, the stated technician allows users to make significantly faster decisions, decisions that again increase productivity, reduce downtime, ensure more frequent first-time fixes, optimize backup inventory, and enhance asset reliability.

“Being a premium player in the automotive aftermarket industry places a critical focus on our manufacturing and maintenance operations. Our customers expect a consistently high-quality product and an on-time delivery, which is increasingly challenging with the continuous supply chain disruptions around the world,” said Stefano Mariani, head of IT at Alcar Ruote. “With these new capabilities in Oracle Cloud Manufacturing and Oracle Cloud Maintenance, our production operators will be better able to work with speed and accuracy, while capturing all of the key data associated with that work.”
