Fusing Biomechanical Analysis and Sports Injuries

‘Sports injuries’ is one of the grave topics in medical science. For sports injuries, it is either how the athlete gets treated over the years or how the athletes of that particular sport is treated and medicated. It is a very delicate field of work because athletes have serious injuries which might take even surgeries to fix. This is why the sports injuries are taken up with utmost seriousness and they are often of an emergency nature.

The biomechanical analysis in these injuries and in the way the athlete has played that gave them the injury has a lot of significance. The biomechanical analysis presents the laws that are mechanical and how do they affect the body, mostly while playing. This also helps in understanding how the patterns and movements are responsible for the injuries.

The analysis could be observed in images, or video camera recordings which often provide with a clear cut idea of how the injury happened and what could be done in the future to avoid it. There are two types of analysis:

  • Qualitative analysis
  • Quantitative analysis

The quantitative analysis is better and far more detailed than the qualitative one. The biomechanist in a quantitative analysis has a better experience of the work that the one in qualitative. The biomechanist must know about the sport, otherwise it would be difficult and nearly impossible to provide with precise analysis of the movements of the athlete. This whole process could be costly, but once done it is very effective and noteworthy, especially for the athlete who has to return to the game.

The expertise provide in a biomechanical analysis is something that every athlete needs if they are prone to injuries. This analysis has been of immense help to many athletes, coaches and teams. If the athlete gets to know which particular movements are giving them the injury or injuries, there would be less of injuries altogether.
