A Whole New Logistical Bid

One thing about human life is that you can always make it better. This single fact has played a pivotal role in fuelling our growth over time, but having said that, the whole dynamic comes with its own set of complications. You see, when you are pursuing progression under such a setup, you have to conceive new ideas on a rather consistent basis so to keep everything from going stagnant. To the world’s credit, it has done an amazing job in making sure of the same. Nevertheless, all our attempts start to look a little less significant when you compare them to the one that yielded technology. While technology’s emergence was notable mainly due to its innate skill-set, it also earned some applause purely for birthing many more possibilities along the way. By doing the latter in particular, the creation scaled up our lives beyond recognition. In fact, a recent announcement suggests that there is still a lot more waiting on the wings.

Autonomous vehicle technology company, Aurora has officially unveiled its fleet management platform, Aurora Beacon. A cloud-based mission control system at heart, Aurora Beacon is designed to optimize the company’s trucking and ride-hailing products in Aurora Connect and Aurora Horizon. According to certain reports, the platform will offer a unique peek into real-time data generated by every vehicle. Among the available details, the customers will have a clear access to information like vehicle health, location, traffic conditions, ETA, and more. Throw in real-time alerts and you have a system, which can help you in making fast, data-based decisions to monitor, coordinate, remotely observe, and redirect your vehicle. Talk about remote observation, the Aurora Beacon comes with a dedicated support tool. This tool will enable the specialists in regards to guiding the vehicle when the autonomy solution is unclear.

“Self-driving vehicles will provide much-needed capacity to carriers, networks, and fleets, allowing them to respond to unmet demand and grow their business. Unlocking their full potential to go beyond what conventional vehicles can do, requires the right operational tools. We’re designing those tools in the Aurora Beacon platform. We’re designing Aurora Beacon to integrate with these systems to provide unprecedented control and information,” said Sterling Anderson, Chief Product Officer and Co-founder at Aurora.

The new platform comes at a perfect time for Aurora, as the company gears up to go commercial in near future. It is already running pilot programs with the likes of FedEx, Uber Freight, and Werner Enterprises, so we should expect more developments pretty soon. While there is little information about whether Aurora will use the new platform in those programs or not, there are enough reasons that envision it taking up a more integral role at some point.
