Human beings are known to be good at many different things, and yet there is nothing we do better than growing on a consistent basis. This ability, in particular, has allowed us to hit upon some huge milestones, with technology appearing as a major member of the stated group. The reason why technology’s credentials are so anomalous is predicated upon its unique skill-set, which gave us a shot at all those possibilities that we could have never imagined otherwise. Nevertheless, if you look a little deeper, it becomes clear that the whole runner was also inspired by how we used the stated skills in a real-world setting. The latter component was, in fact, what gave the creation a spectrum-wide presence, and consequentially, kickstarted a tech revolution. This revolution will go on to enhance our lives from every conceivable direction, but even after realizing such a monumental feat, the creation will somehow keep on producing the right goods. The same has only turned more evident on the back of recent human progression, and a recent funding does a lot to keep that trend alive.
Airplane, a software-as-a-service dev platform, has successfully secured over $32 million in Series B financing. The round, which was led by Thrive Capital and saw close participation from Benchmark, is expected to fund the company’s bid to enter new markets, while also expanding its 19-person workforce to support that expansion. Founded in 2020, Airplane started out with an intention to help developers with building internal development tools. The timing was quite interesting, as according to a report, the pandemic forced over 87% of the respondents to increase their attention towards internal apps so to prepare a more effective against the health crisis. Hence, in order to restore the all-important balance, Airplane launched a platform that allowed these developers to scour through and pick from an extensive library of tables, forms, charts, and more. The stated pre-built options would enable the development of an app, which in turn, can be integrated with APIs, libraries or various other custom avenues. What’s more is how you can deploy Airplane’s platform on-premise, as well as in the cloud, a feature that immediately gives you the access to a host of exciting applications.
“We’re not yet profitable, but this funding round plus our current revenue gives us several years of runway even with aggressive growth plans … We’re fortunate to have a product that can save a lot of engineering time as well as significantly improve customer experience. During a period when companies are tightening their belts and looking for ways to improve efficiency, Airplane is easy to justify. [But] our product today only solves a small portion of this huge problem and there’s a lot more we need to build to create a broad platform for internal tool development,” said Ravi Parikh, co-founder of Airplane.
Staying true to that intention to grow further, Airplane, alongside the funding, has also announced the launch of a new product in Airplane Views, which marks the company’s foray into creating internal tooling visual interfaces. This foray, assuming it goes as planned, should boost the company’s clientele of 100 paying customers that include names like Vercel, Panther Labs, and Flatfile.
