We often talk about how human beings have come a long way, but we don’t mention what really got us here. To tell you the truth, many different factors went into it, with each one playing a significant role. However, if we have to boil it down to something concise, it was our tendency to stay curious. You see, even though human beings’ ingenious capabilities were there from the get-go, it was our curiosity that nurtured them, therefore making us dramatically better over time. This dynamic, in turn, would end up guiding us towards some unbelievable milestones, and one among them will be technology. Technology was a game-changer mainly because it didn’t just raise our floor, but it also did a lot to raise our ceiling. The said combination eventually placed us in a position where we had a shot at achieving anything we desired. Now, when you are playing with such a luxury, the by-products are always going to be bigger than all pre-conceived boundaries, and an example of the same is pretty evident in Lucid Motors’ latest move.
Lucid Motors has officially unveiled an enhanced version of its popular Grand Touring EV sedan. Named as Lucid Air Grand Touring Performance, the new vehicle is set to hit the market in June 2022. According to certain reports, it can cover upto to 100 miles on a single charge, while also offering 0-60 mph acceleration within a timeframe of 2.5 seconds. The Performance model, like its predecessor, comes with features like 34-inch floating glass cockpit that boasts 5k resolution, Lucid’s in-house solid-state system, and the company’s driver assistance setup in DreamDrive Pro, which by the way, brings you the first automotive lidar in North America. Beyond that, the customer can also expect to enjoy heated and ventilated messaging front seats, soft-close doors, and 21-speaker surround sound system.
“The remarkable speed with which we are able to conceive and bring this model to market is possible only because of Lucid’s high degree of vertical integration and in-house production of our proprietary EV powertrain and battery pack technology,” said Peter Rawlinson, CEO and CTO of Lucid Group.
While Lucid was successful in quickly developing the new model, it continues to struggle in terms of meeting the production forecast. Only recently, the company slashed over 8,000 vehicles off its 2022 final target. This concern gets accentuated once you realize that, till February, the company’s delivery count was just around 300 on what we speculate to be more than 25,000 reservations. Nevertheless, Lucid will hope to make amends moving forward, and the Air Grand Touring Performance gives it the best possible shot at doing so. Talk about the price, the latest Lucid Motors model is going to cost you a sum worth $179,000.
