Shuffling the Deck

It might get hugely uncomfortable at times, but we still need to keep embracing the new trends as they come. This is because, without doing so, we run a major risk of getting left behind, and that can have some serious long-term repercussions. However, believe it or not, there is something even bigger at stake here. You see, when you refuse to accept any change in the horizon, you also fail rather sensationally at fulfilling your potential. Such a dynamic, as you would expect, robs us off a better life and all what comes with it. Understanding the volatility present in here, the world has constructed various different avenues, which are specifically designed to guide us through these situations. Now, while each avenue has made an exclusive contribution towards taking our growth process to the most seamless point possible, none have done it as neatly as technology. Technology became such a widespread phenomenon mainly because it presented a highly accommodating way to scale up your life. Regardless of where you happen to be on a personal level, the creation would consistently deliver that perfect platform for you to take the next step. This dynamic is, in fact, only growing stronger with time, and it was once again put on full display by Discord’s recent decision.

Discord has officially revealed plans to initiate testing of some new features in the coming days. According to certain reports, Discord will kick things off by addressing a major complaint regarding unorganized server chats. Up until now, the members in big Discord communities have found dipping back into the conversation as extremely challenging because of how messy it can get. There is literally no viable way to keep a track, therefore hampering the user overall experience. The company plans on solving it using a forum channel on the server that will function pretty much like a go-to place for more organized communication between the members. Apart from it, Discord is cooking up a new homepage feature, which will dig up and provide trending topics in concise forms.

However, a more significant change is likely to arrive on the moderation front, as the company enlists automated tools to do the tasks currently falling in the domain of third-party moderators. Although Discord’s announcement didn’t conjure up any concrete connections, the move is an interesting development bearing in mind an acquisition made by the company last year. In July 2021, Discord bought Sentropy, a firm known for making AI software to detect online hate and harassment.

“We think about Discord like a growing neighborhood and have to design for all the shapes and sizes of communities that call Discord home,’ said Discord Group Product Manager, Rick Ling. “We care deeply about enabling admins, moderators and community members to make their spaces uniquely their own and will continue to invest in tools and features to help them come together and find belonging.”
