Bringing Everyone Together

It’s barely a secret that humans are required to shake things up every once in a while. This allows us to keep things fresh, but more importantly, by doing so we also give ourselves a legitimate shot at improving on a personal level. Now, throughout their history, human have achieved the said progression in some really creative ways, each one bringing a unique value to the table. Nevertheless, our only leap, which set us up for gazillion more, came on the back of technology. Technology’s role in advancing human life doesn’t need any explanation. It is apparent in all the aspects that currently surround us in one way or the other, and the presence is only growing stronger with time. You see, owing to the creation’s flexible framework, the world today is consistently finding itself in a very promising position. The sheer luxury of being able to explore and build upon entirely different disciplines has made us arguably the smartest generation our species has ever seen. When you are in such a discussion, it’s natural to witness some unprecedented by-products. So far, we have actually witnessed plenty, except another one is now set to join the pack.

Meta has officially revealed plans to create AI-driven translation software, which will work for “everyone in the world”. Using machine learning as the ultimate centerpiece, the software is going to focus on two key areas. The first one talks to the idea of No Language Left Behind. The said concept seemingly revolves around building AI models that are capable of translating languages without needing many training inputs. Apart from it, we have the second primary idea in Universal Speech Translator. Like the name suggests, this one will look to accommodate all languages by translating them in real-time. Notably enough, it won’t ask for a written component to do the mediator job, thus bucking a major trend when it comes to translation apps.

“Eliminating language barriers would be profound, making it possible for billions of people to access information online in their native or preferred language. Advances in [machine translation] won’t just help those people who don’t speak one of the languages that dominates the internet today; they’ll also fundamentally change the way people in the world connect and share ideas,” said the researching team at Meta.

While the company is still yet to share the possible timeframe for developing the new translation software, it is expected to aid Meta’s longstanding virtual reality ambitions. If the users from different countries are somehow able to talk seamlessly, then the potential for Metaverse will have all the momentum to just skyrocket beyond the clouds.
